Uddhav Thackeray sacks several party leaders for anti-party activities

A day after Eknath Shinde had taken oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister,  Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had, on July 1, sacked Shinde from all positions of the party.

Mumbai: Amid tussle over control of the party, Shiv Sena supremo and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday sacked several key leaders from the party. The action to this effect by the party chief was taken amid reports of anti-party activities by the leaders who have been reportedly supporting Eknath Shinde camp.

Eknath Shinde had succeeded Uddhav Thackeray by bringing down his government. The development also led tussle for the control of the party. As per the reports, Thackeray camp has removed former minister Vijay Shivtare, MLA Santosh Bangar, who was sacked as district chief of Hingoli, Naresh Mhaske as zilla pramukh for Thane. Besides this, Thackeray has also appointed more than 100 new office bearers in Thane, Palghar, Amravati and Yavatmal districts.

A day after Eknath Shinde had taken oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister,  Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had, on July 1, sacked Shinde from all positions of the party. The Shiv Sena had alleged his involvement in anti-party activities.

The party, in a statement, had said that the action was initiated as the rebel MLA has given up his membership from the party. “He was been sacked for involving in activities against the party,” the statement said.

After heightened political drama in Maharashtra for over couple of weeks, things settled after the Supreme Court had turned down a Shiv Sena plea to stop a floor test ordered by the Governor and subsequently, Uddhav Thackeray quit as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Thackeray had announced his decision through Facebook live and in some time, he had reached the Governor’s house and submitted his resignation.
