Delhi BJP mahila morcha stages protest against Kejriwal excise policy

New Delhi:  The BJP State Mahila Morcha today staged a massive protest outside AAPs Raghav Chaddha residence against new excise policy. Thousands of women in the protest urged Chaddha to get these liquor shops closed at the earliest. They said it is the women who have been affected the most by this policy and are feeling unsafe.

Among those present at the demonstration were state General Secretary Shri Harsh Malhotra, mahila morcha president Smt Yogita Singh who was also programme convener , state BJP vice president Shri Rajan Tiwari, morcha general secretary Dr Monika Pant, district chief Shri Rajesh Goel besides others.

Addressing protestors Shri Harsh Malhotra alleged Raghav Chaddha has got his uncle Ashok Chaddha hundreds of liquor shops contract. Huge number of women have gathered here to remind Raghav Chaddha that Arvind Kejriwal had said liquor shops in localities would be opened only after talking to women of the area. But like others this promise of Kejriwal too has proved to be a lie. Cleaning of Yamuna river, warden in DTC buses all promises have remained on papers.  Before he became CM, Kejriwal said RWAs and women would be consulted before for these shops but 850 of them were opened without doing it.

Shri Harsh Malhotra said Raghav Chaddha is not able to take care of his department as he is neck deep into corruption. Seven years back Delhi jal board was running in profit but is now in the red with a debt of Rs 65000 crore. Instead of clean drinking water what is being served is liquor, he quipped

Smt Yogita Singh said earlier there were 78 wards in Delhi where there wasn’t even a single liquor shop which is about 58 per cent area of entire Delhi. But now every ward has three liquor shops each and thus Kejriwal is hell bent upon making Delhi a city of liquor.  Not only this Raghav Chaddha and his associates have together opened several liquor shops in the name of their family members so as to make quick and fat sum. Besides commission has been raised from two to 12 per cent now so as to use money thus earned in poll bound states. She said it’s shocking that these shops are coming up in close vicinity of educational institutions, religious places and residential areas. Instead of ensuring equitable distribution of water the Kejriwal  government is doing it for liquor  shops, she quipped.

Smt Yogita Singh  wondered  by opening   pink liquor  shops for women  and giving 30 per cent discount  on that whether  Kejriwal  wanted to prove women  in Delhi  are more addicted  to liquor.  Youngsters are being taught how to drink rather than being given jobs. As women are most affected we are out to vehemently protest this.

Shri Rajan Tiwari said this protest will tell people what their elected representative is doing for them. He said Raghav Chaddha has indulged in massive corruption through this excise policy as he has got contract for these shops for his uncle and other close relations. While talking about corruption on opening of liquor joints in his own book Swaraj  Kejriwal  should tell how much money he himself has taken for these 850 liquor  shops, he asked.
