Chandigarh: The Punjab Police on Tuesday said it has arrested two alleged members of the gang run by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar for their alleged role in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case.

The Mohali police and the Anti-Gangster Task Force identified the arrested as Gagandeep Singh alias Gaggi and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi who hail from the Kingra village of Haryana. “They were arrested near Dara Studio in Mohali on a tip-off,” Mohali police chief Vivek Sheel Soni said, adding, “We seized two pistols, eight bullets and a Mahindra Scorpio car from them.”

While the Punjab Police are making arrangements to bring Lawrence Bishnoi to Punjab from Delhi, an Interpol red corner notice has been issued against Goldy Brar, who reportedly claimed responsibility for the murder of Sidhu Moosewala, who was also a Congress leader.

The police said the two arrested, Gaggi and Gopi, were in regular touch with Goldy Brar through Manpreet Singh alias Manna (another gangster) who provided a Toyota Corolla car to the murderers. Manna has already been arrested.

“They were working on the directions of Goldy Brar and indulged in illegal weapons’ smuggling from border areas of Punjab and Rajasthan,” a statement issued by the police read. They were allegedly on their way to deliver weapons to someone when they were caught, it added.

On June 8, the Delhi Police had claimed that Lawrence Bishnoi is the mastermind in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case. The police, however, had said, that jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has not confessed to have had a role in the murder but said his gang planned it. Lawrence Bishnoi also said the motive to kill Sidhu Moosewala was in retaliation to the killing of Akali leader Vicky Middukhera last year.
