Rebel MLA Shinde, in his letter to CM, Home Minister & DGP said that the government is duty bound to ensure safety and security of legislatures and their families.
Guwahati: Amid reports of vandalism at premises associated with the rebel MLAs by Shiv Sena workers, Eknath Shinde has written a letter to the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Home Minister Dilip Wasle Patil, Director General of Police Rajnish Seth and all Commissioner demanding adequate security to the families of MLAs who have been camping in a hotel in Guwahati, Assam.
Shinde, who has revolted against the sitting chief minister along with 37 other Shiv Sena MLAs, said that ensuring safety and security of MLAs and their families is duty of the state government. He demanded that the security which are entitled to under protocol should be provided to their families with immediate effect. He said that if any harm was done to the families of legislatures, the CM Uddhav Thackeray, leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) like Sharad Pawar, Sanjay Raut and Aditya Thackeray will be responsible. He also shred signature of 38 MLAs in the letter on social media.
The rebel Shiv Sena MLA, in a tweet, said, “The protection of Shiv Sena MLAs has been withdrawn by order of the Chief Minister and the Home Minister. The government is responsible for protecting them and their families.”
“In the last two and a half years, Shiv Sena has been and is being embezzled in the same manner by the constituent parties of MVI,” Shinde replied to his own tweet.
Amid ongoing political crisis due to rebellion in Shiv Sena, party workers on Saturday vandalised office of the rebel MLA Tanaji Sawant in Balaji area of Katraj in Pune. Tanaji Sawant is among the MLAs who have revolted against Uddhav Thackeray and is currently camping at Raddison Blu hotel in Guwahati.

Party leader Sanjay Raut said that they will sit together at meeting, discuss party’s expansion, and its future. He said that the party cannot be hijacked as it’s a very big. “It’s been made with our blood. Several sacrificed to make it. No one can break it with money,” Raut said.
Sanjay Raut has said that the rebel MLAs will return to their side once they will come back to Mumbai. He also advised former chief minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis to not get involved in this matter, and save whatever is left of his dignity. “We will consider quitting the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition if the MLAs come back from Guwahati and talk to us,” he had said while talking to the media on Thursday.
After reports of vandalism and damage at offices, Mumbai Police has issued alert in the city and has directed police stations to make adequate security arrangement at all political offices in their concerned areas. All office level personnel have been directed to make rounds in their areas and visit offices of political parties.
