Pakistan Prez announces fresh polls; National assembly dismisses no-trust motion against Imran Khan govt

Opposition leaders, however, cries a foul play by the ruling government and termed the rejection of the motion unconstitutional. The opposition leaders announced to intensify their protest against Imran Khan-led government. They also announced to move Supreme Court without making a delay.

New Delhi: In a series of events, Pakistan President Arif Alvi on Sunday announced fresh polls after dissolving the national assembly on recommendation of Prime Minister Irman Khan. The development came after last minute dismissal of no-confidence motion moved by the opposition parties against the Pakistan PM.  Dismissing the no-trust motion, Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri said that it against the Constitution and rules of the nation.

Khan, while addressing people of Pakistan, said to get ready for elections. He alleged a larger conspiracy to topple down his government. His party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) later tweeted (in Urdu), “Today, by making #External_constitution_failed Pakistan has proved that this country will make its own decisions and this nation will live on its own. God willing.”

The Pakistan PM, on Saturday, had said that he has a plan for and people need not worry about. He had claimed to defeat united opposition during the no-trust motion.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), tweeted, “Government has violated constitution. did not allow voting on no confidence motion. The united opposition is not leaving parliament. Our lawyers are on their way to Supreme Court. We call on ALL institutions to protect, uphold, defend & implement the constitution of Pakistan.”

Pakistan Prime Minister has reportedly accused US for interfering in his country’s affairs. He has alleged that the opposition has been conspiring with Washington to dethrone him as his government had not taken the side of the US and Europe issues related to Russia and China.
