Delhi Congress leaders in a programme on Monday

New Delhi: Delhi Congress on Monday said that the new Liquor Policy has wreaked havoc among the unemployed youth of the city. It said that the newly introduced policy created a huge law and order situation and traffic blockades, was intended to attract more and more young people into liquor addiction and fill the coffers of the Arvind Kejriwal Government.

Delhi Congress President Anil Kumar said that the liquor vendors have amassed enormous profits from the subsidized liquor sale with the Arvind Kejriwal Government being a major beneficiary of the profits, as the purpose of the Government allowing 3-4 liquor vends at every ward was to make liquor sale a lucrative business.

He said that people were distressed by unemployment, price rise, loss of livelihood and the financial strain caused by the Covid1-19 pandemic, but Chief Minister Arvind did not give any thought to these pressing issues, instead he focused his attention on liberalizing the liquor policy, fighting elections in other States making lofty promises like free power and water, unemployment allowance, allowance for women, which he could not implement in Delhi for the past eight years.
