Background and Campus Details
The new Nalanda University campus features two Academic Blocks with 40 classrooms, two auditoriums with 300-seat capacity each, a student hostel for 550 students, an International Centre, an Amphitheater for up to 2000 individuals, a Faculty Club, and a Sports Complex. It is a sustainable campus with facilities like a solar plant, water treatment and recycling plants, and extensive water bodies.
The original Nalanda University, established around 1600 years ago, is among the first residential universities in the world. Its ruins were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016. The revival of Nalanda University is seen as a significant step in preserving and promoting India’s historical and educational heritage on a global stage.
