Lok Sabha elections 2024 results: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has registered a landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli seat in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Rahul Gandhi won by over 3,80,000 votes against his nearest rival, Dinesh Pratap Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party, according to Election Commission data. Singh is a minister in Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet.
Sonia Gandhi, who had held the seat since 2004, beat Singh by a margin of 167,000 votes in 2019. She dropped out of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and then Rahul Gandhi replaced her as the Congress candidate for Rae Bareli.
Rahul Gandhi represented Amethi seat in the Rajya Sabha from 2004 to 2019. Though he lost Amethi to Bharatiya Janata Party’s Smriti Irani in the last election, he managed to retain her MP status by winning the second seat in Kerala.
