Kolkata buildings lit up in Tricolour to mark 75th Independence Day

To mark the 75th Independence Day, the Centre has floated an initiative — Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav — and the entire country is gripped in patriotic fervour.

Kolkata: During the struggle for freedom, like many others parts of the country, Kolkata was a major hub of revolutionary movements. It was this city that once housed great freedom fighters like Bagha Jatin, Bina Das, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Prafulla Chaki and others.

To mark the 75th Independence Day, several major structures of the city were illuminated in the colours of the Indian flag. Here are a few:
