Chethana Raj died at Dr Shetty’s Cosmetic Clinic in Bengaluru’s Rajajinagar. The hospital has said that late on Monday, fluid began to fill her lungs and her health took a turn for the worse.
Bengaluru: A 21-year-old Kannada TV serial actress, Chethana, died on Tuesday at a private hospital in Bengaluru after undergoing a fat-removal operation known as liposuction on Monday. While she reportedly died of post-operative complications, the doctors at the hospital said she died of cardiac arrest.
The incident took place at Dr Shetty’s Cosmetic Clinic in Bengaluru’s Rajajinagar. The hospital has said that late on Monday, fluid began to fill her lungs and her health took a turn for the worse.
Meanwhile, Chethana’s parents, alleged that negligence on the part of the hospital and doctors caused their daughter’s death. A case has been filed against the doctors by her parents and the hospital has reportedly been shut.
Senior police officer Vinayak Patil said, “This is a case of medical negligence. An unnatural death report is awaited and a case has been registered against Dr Shetty’s Cosmetic Centre over suspicion of her death. We have registered a case, however, no arrests have been made yet, because action will be initiated after the medical report is submitted.”
Alleging negligence on the part of the doctors, Chethana’s parents said, “My daughter died due to the negligence of the hospital. The doctors have conducted surgery without parental consent and without proper equipment. My daughter was hale and hearty. She was absolutely fine. She had gone to hospital with her friends. I will initiate legal action against the hospital authorities,” he said.
According to some sources, Chethana did not inform her parents and went and got admitted accompanied by her friends. According to reports, the doctors tried to revive her through CPR for 45 minutes but couldn’t. On realising that she was unresponsive, the doctors reportedly took her to the nearby Kaade Hospital and tried to force doctors there to treat her.
Chethana Raj had acted in popular serials such as Geetha, Doresaani, Olavina Nildana and others. She had also acted in Havayaami, a Kannada movie.
