BJP’s corruption in the MCDs and Arvind Government’s hollow/fake promises take the development of Delhi downward: DPCC President Anil Kumar

DPCC President Anil Kumar addresses party workers on Saturday

New Delhi: Delhi Congress has identified the party’s Digital Membership campaign, and start preparations for the MCD elections. DPCC President Anil Kumar said that Delhi Congress’ Digital Membership Campaign has received tremendous response from the people, including youth and women, and the district conventions will further intensify the campaign.

He said that the Arvind Kejriwal Government’s seven years of misrule and 15 years’ of BJP’s corruption-ridden reign in the Municipal Corporations of Delhi have set back the development and progress of Delhi by several years, as both these parties only made hollow promises and indulged in corruption to stunt the growth of Delhi, and ruin the lives of the people.

Anil Kumar said that Delhiites, fed up by the misrule of the AAP and BJP Governments, were now looking up to the Congress to assume power at the MCDs and take Delhi on the path of development and progress once again. He said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal bothers only about his self-publicity and fattening his pockets, and with that in mind, he introduced a liberalized Liquor Policy, which enabled opening of liquor shops at every ward, and lowered the drinking age from 25 to 21 years, to destroy the unemployed youth by driving them into liquor addiction.

The DPCC President said that before coming to power, Arvind Kejriwal had made many lofty promises, including lakhs of jobs to the youth, but seven years down the line, Delhi has recorded the worst unemployment rate in recent years. He said that unemployment, price rise, loss of livelihoods, soaring crime rates, easy availability of liquor everywhere, severe air pollution and terrible condition of public transport, have made the life of Delhiites unbearable, with the Arvind Kejriwal Government extending no help to the people ravaged by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said that 60,000 to 70,000 employees are on the roads protesting against non-payment of salaries and arrears, regularization of ad hoc employment, salary hike etc. but the BJP-ruled MCDs and the Arvind Kejriwal Government, who are two sides of the same coin, have not bothered to address the problems of the workers, despite these protesting outside the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
