Kolkata: Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is a part of the Cannes Film Festival Jury 2022 and was seen arriving to dine with her fellow jurors in France on Monday evening. The ‘Piku’ actress joined Rebecca Hall, filmmaker Jeff Nichols, and Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi at the Cannes Film Festival jury dinner. The star-studded dinner took place at Hotel Martinez in Cannes, France.

Deepika opted for a chic sequinned dress from Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2021 collection. She teamed it with brown coloured high boots. Her hair and makeup were also on point. She was joined by Cannes Film Festival director Thierry Fremaux, US film director and member of the Jury of the Official Selection Jeff Nichols, British actress and member of the Jury of the Official Selection Rebecca Hall, and Italian actress and member of the Jury of the Official Selection Jasmine Trinca.

The ‘Gehraiyaan’ actor even shared a vlog video with her fans after landing in the French Riviera town and delighted her followers with some snippets. She shared a sneak peek with her fans on Instagram as she landed in France for the gala.

The festival has selected India as the official country of honour at Cannes Film Market. The intent is to showcase the culture, legacy, heritage, and development of India through cinema. Interestingly, this year India and France are also celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations.

Earlier, in a statement to the press, Cannes described the iconic Deepika as, “Indian Actress, producer, philanthropist, and entrepreneur Deepika Padukone, is a huge star in her country. actor, producer, philanthropist, and entrepreneur from India. With over 30 feature films to her credit, she made her English language film debut as the female lead in ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’, co-starring with Vin Diesel.

She is also the principal of Ka Productions, the production company behind ‘Chhapaak’ and ‘83’, in which she also starred, as well as the upcoming film The Intern. Credits include Gehraiyaan and Padmaavat, as well as the award-winning and critically acclaimed film Piku. In 2015, she set up The Live Love Laugh Foundation, whose programs and initiatives aim to destigmatize mental illness and raise awareness about the importance of mental health. In 2018, Times Magazine named her one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.”  

Apart from Deepika, Hina Khan, Helly Shah, Pooja Hegde, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Tamannaah Bhatia will also be attending the Cannes Film Festival. Akshay Kumar was also supposed to walk the red carpet, however, after he tested positive for Covid-19, he had to ‘rest it out’. This year, Cannes’ Marche’ Du Film is celebrating India as its Official Country Of Honour and one can expect a whole lot of Indian glamour at the red carpet.The 11-day festival is scheduled to begin on May 17 and will go on till May 28. In an Instagram video, the ‘Piku’ actress is finding it hard to choose between eating or sleeping.

At the workfront our ‘Mastani’ will be next seen in Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. Apart from this, she also has The Intern with Amitabh Bachchan, and Fighter with Hrithik Roshan.
