New Delhi: Almost a couple of weeks after Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta demanded renaming of Aurangzeb Lane as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Lane, members of BJP Yuva Morcha today defaced the signboard. The Yuva Morcha members pasted a banner displaying the name ‘Baba Vishwanath Marg’ on the board.

Vasu Rukhar, Delhi president of BJP Yuva Morcha, said that Aurangzeb Lane be renamed as Baba Vishwanath Marg. He claimed to take the protest on roads if the demand was not met. During defacement of the sighboard, senior office bearers of the Yuva Morcha were present who all demanded renaming of the Lutyens’ Delhi lane at earliest.

Meanwhile, their action of defacement of signboards may invite action against them as the New Delhi Municipal Corporation can act under the Delhi Defacement Act. The council staff have reportedly removed the poster pasted by Yuva Morcha.

In a similar demand, Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta urged the concerned agency to rename Aurangzeb Lane as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Lane, Humayun Road as Maharshi Valmiki Road, and Shahjahan Road as General Bipin Rawat Road. Gupta had also written a letter to NDMC Chairman in this regard saying that those persons whose names are kept in Delhi were invaders.

He had alleged that the Congress government had committed sin which is being corrected under the Modi government. He had questioned why there should be a road in India after their names?  When the country is celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav, the names of roads after such invaders are a sign of slavery. So there should be an immediate change of the names of these roads,” Gupta had said.
