National Award-winning singer Alka Yagnik has revealed that she is currently grappling with sensorineural deafness, a condition that has affected her ability to hear faint sounds, understand speech clearly, and discern between different sounds. In an Instagram post, the 58-year-old artist recounted the distressing moment when she suddenly lost her hearing after disembarking from a routine flight.
“As I walked out of a flight, I suddenly felt I was not able to hear anything,” Alka Yagnik shared with her followers, urging caution among her fans and younger colleagues about the risks associated with exposure to very loud music and prolonged use of headphones.
