New Delhi: According to reports, Russia has allegedly dropped a bomb on a theatre in Ukraine’s Mariupol which housed hundreds of civilians amid the war. However, the Russian side denied the claims even as Ukraine accused it of committing a war crime Thursday.
Meanwhile, according to Belkis Wille, a senior crisis and conflict researcher of the Human Rights Watch, the drama theatre had at least 500 civilians inside it when the bomb was dropped. On Twitter she wrote, “this raises serious concerns about what the intended target was in a city where civilians have already been under siege for days.”
According to reports, the bombing has left several people homeless or buried under the burning debris of the drama theatre. According to satellite images, the word CHILDREN was clearly written on both sides of the building so that it is not bombed.
The Mariupol attack came soon after Ivan Fedorov, the Mayor of Melitopol who was abducted last week, was freed by Russia after Ukraine released nine Russian soldiers. Moments after his abduction, a CCTV footage had gone viral on social media showing a group of Russian soldiers covering the Mayor’s face with a bag and dragging him away. Reports had said he was abducted after he denied to cooperate with the Russian soldiers.
According to the intelligence reports of the United States of America, which is closely watching the developments in the war-torn country, the Russian military has lost at least 7,000 soldiers and Pentagon sources said the will to fight may soon be destroyed if the number keeps rising.
According to The Kyiv Independent, Canada’s telecoms regulator have announced that it is removing RT and RT France from its list of non-Canadian programming services. Earlier, the European Union and the United Kingdoms had halted the distribution of RT.
