The National Common Entrance Test (NCET), originally set for June 12 and postponed at the last minute, will now occur on July 10. This test is for admission to the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) at select institutions, including IITs, NITs, and government colleges.
Why was UGC NET exam cancelled
The previous UGC-NET exam on June 18 was conducted in two shifts nationwide but was cancelled by the Ministry of Education due to concerns about the exam’s integrity. Over 9 lakh candidates had participated.

Student organizations have been protesting alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG and the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam. The Union Education Ministry clarified that reported malpractices were isolated incidents and emphasized that penalizing successful candidates would be unfair.
The arrests

According to the CBI, while one of the arrested was Dr. Ehsanul Haque, the principal of Oasis School and the Hazaribagh district coordinator for NEET-UG appointed by the National Testing Agency, the other was Imtiaz Alam — the vice principal of the same school.
