BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan revealed on Thursday that senior party leader Amit Shah has urged her to “carry out political and constituency work intensively”. This statement comes a day after a video of her interaction with the Union Home Minister surfaced on social media, sparking speculation.
The video, taken during TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu’s swearing-in as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on Wednesday, shows Amit Shah speaking animatedly to Soundararajan, gesturing with his finger.
In a post on X on Thursday evening, Soundararajan, who is the former Governor of Telangana, clarified the context of their conversation. She mentioned that this was her first meeting with Amit Shah following the Lok Sabha poll results, and they were discussing “post-poll follow-up.”
“Yesterday as I met our Honorable Home Minister Sri @AmitShah ji in AP for the first time after the 2024 Elections, he called me to ask about post-poll follow-up and the challenges faced. As I was elaborating, due to paucity of time with utmost concern, he advised to carry out the political and constituency work intensively which was reassuring. This is to clarify all unwarranted speculations,” she wrote.

Tamilsai Soundararajan contested from the South Chennai Lok Sabha seat but lost to DMK’s Tamizhachi Thangapandian. Her comments gain significance amidst rumors of intra-party discord within the Tamil Nadu BJP unit.

Upon her return to Chennai on Wednesday, Soundararajan declined to comment on the alleged intra-party feud when approached by reporters. The speculation was fueled by her reported comments on “criminal elements” within the BJP and her assertion that “the party would have won had there been an alliance with the AIADMK.”
As the BJP navigates post-election challenges, Soundararajan’s clarification aims to dispel rumors and refocus efforts on strengthening the party’s political groundwork in Tamil Nadu.
