Unleashing a scathing attack on Choudhary the ruling party demanded an apology from the Congress party for insulting President Droupadi Murmu.

Do we still need to identify women in relation to a man? Can she only be defined as someone’s daughter or sister or wife or mother? Why do women who are immensely successful in their professional lives still referred to as mere relatives of men? Can we not give them social acceptance and embrace their individuality?

Droupadi Murmu got over 50 per cent of the total vote value after just three rounds of counting. Her vote share also indicated cross voting in her favour.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh said, “AAP will support Opposition’s Presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha. We respect Droupadi Murmu but we will vote for Yashwant Sinha.”

JMM president Shibu Soren, a former coal minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, on Thursday issued a whip to all MLAs and MPs of the party and asked them to vote for Murmu.

A day after 16 party MPs suggested to support NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu in in Presidential elections, party chief and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had on Tuesday announced to support her.

The Shiv Sena supremo said that considering the current political scenario, Shiv Sena should not back her but he and his party men are not narrow minded.

Draupadi Murmu belongs to the Schedule tribe cast community in India.  She is the first governor of Jharkhand to complete the five year term (2015-2021).
