On September 30, Putin had announced annexation of four areas ofUkraine. The Russian President made announcement to this effect after holding ‘referendums’ last week.

It is reported that youths are fleeing the country and finding it difficult to get flight tickets, and a huge cavalcade of cars have piled up on the border with Georgia to cross over into that country to avoid the military services.

On earlier occasions, New Delhi has abstained at the UN Security Council on Ukraine, much to the annoyance of the Western powers led by the United States.

In the medals tally India was placed jointly in the third position along with Singapore, behind Iran’s official team (five golds) and guest team (four golds, one silver).

The destroyed lab was built in 2015 at a cost of six million euros with support from the European Commission. Russian forces had seized the decommissioned plant at the beginning of the war.

The woman TV employee, identified as Marina Ovsyannikova, was later arrested for the same and is currently in police custody as per reports. She works as an editor at Channel 1.
