Days after the continuous potshots by the Opposition that the Maharashtra government is being run by only two persons — Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis — a total of 18 MLAs had taken oath as ministers in Mumbai on Tuesday last.

Several leaders of Shiv Sena and Congress have criticised Bhagat Singh Kohisyari’s remarks.

The state assembly had on Sunday elected BJP’s Rahul Narvekar as speaker of the house. With the victory, the newly formed coalition had got what it was wishing before the floor test.

Newly formed government will face floor test at state assembly on Monday following which all 50 rebel MLAs including the chief minister who had reached Goa hotel on Friday evening reached Mumbai on Saturday evening. Out of the 50 MLAs, 39 are from Shiv Sena while rest are independents who have been supporting Shinde.

Days after the revolt against Uddhav Thackeray, rebel Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde Eknath Shinde was sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Thursday.

Fadnavis cleared the air and said rebel faction’s leader Eknath Shinde will be made the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, the duo met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari and staked claim to power.

Amid change of guard in the state, Fadnavis told reporters that things will be clear by Thursday.

Uddhav Thackeray, after announcing to quit from his post, took driving seat of his car to reach Raj Bhawan. His both sons including Aditya Thackeray also accompanied him in the car.
