Mumbai Police arrested a man from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, for allegedly making a death threat to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and demanding Rs 50 lakh. The accused, identified as Mohammad Faizan Khan, is a lawyer by profession and was detained after failing to appear for a police summons regarding the case.
The 59-year-old actor, known as “King Khan” among fans, has been in the spotlight recently, especially following the blockbuster success of his films Pathaan and Jawan, the NDTV reported. This latest security scare prompted heightened police scrutiny and resulted in the Mumbai Police registering a case against Faizan under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including extortion involving death threats and criminal intimidation.
Phone Twist in Investigation
Faizan Khan reportedly told the authorities that his mobile phone, the device used to make the threat call last week, had been stolen. He stated that he reported the incident by filing a police complaint on November 2. However, the Mumbai Police are proceeding with investigations as the threatening call was traced back to a phone number registered in Faizan’s name.

The police have charged him under sections 308(4) and 351(3)(4) of the BNS, which address extortion and intimidation with threats of serious harm.
Previous Threats and Increased Security for Shah Rukh Khan
This is not the first time Shah Rukh Khan has faced security threats. In October last year, following his back-to-back hits Pathaan and Jawan, the Mumbai Police strengthened his protective cover, upgrading it to Y+ security. The actor is now accompanied by a team of six armed personnel at all times, an increase from his previous arrangement of two armed guards.
Shah Rukh Khan’s case is the latest in a series of threats targeting prominent Bollywood actors. Fellow superstar Salman Khan has also received threats, allegedly from Lawrence Bishnoi, a jailed gangster linked to multiple criminal cases. In the most recent incident, Bishnoi demanded that Salman Khan apologize at a temple for the killing of a blackbuck – an endangered species held sacred by the Bishnoi community – or pay Rs 5 crore.
Just last week, another man was detained in Karnataka for issuing death threats to Salman Khan. This pattern of escalating threats highlights the increased scrutiny and potential danger faced by Bollywood celebrities, prompting authorities to take preemptive security measures.
The Mumbai Police continue to investigate the case as they work to ensure Shah Rukh Khan’s safety.
