3 dead in Pune after helicopter crashes due to dense fog

In a tragic incident, three people lost their lives after a helicopter crashed in Bavdhan, Pune, shortly after taking off this morning. The helicopter, owned by a Delhi-based aviation firm, went down in a hilly region, sparking a rescue operation.

The victims of the Pune helicopter crash have been identified as pilots Girish Kumar Pillai and Paramjit Singh, along with engineer Pritamchand Bharadwaj. The helicopter took off from the Oxford Golf Club’s helipad at 7:30 am and crashed within five minutes of being airborne.

Shashikant Mahavarkar, Joint Commissioner of Police for Pimpri Chinchwad, shared, “The helicopter crashed in a remote, hilly area shortly after take-off. Dense fog in the area may have contributed to the crash.”

Authorities have launched a rescue operation as visuals from the crash site revealed extensive wreckage and towering flames. Local police and emergency services are at the scene, working to determine the exact cause of the accident.
