Harrowing eyewitness accounts have emerged following Tuesday’s terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where gunmen opened fire on a group of tourists in the scenic Baisaran valley, killing one and injuring several others.
Terror attack survivor narrates the harrowing incident
“We were just having bhelpuri… and then he shot my husband,” a woman survivor said, her voice trembling with shock and grief. Her husband was among those targeted in the ambush carried out by militants dressed in army fatigues.
Recalling the terrifying moment, she added, “The gunman said my husband was not a Muslim and then shot him.” Her anguish echoed the targeted nature of the assault, which has sent shockwaves across the country.
A separate video from the scene showed another woman sobbing uncontrollably, crying out for help. “Please save my husband,” she pleaded, her voice barely audible through her tears. The man recording the clip could be heard trying to console her, even as two injured men lay motionless nearby.
A Kashmiri Muslim man helped all those people who were injured in the attack and took them to the hospital.
While helping, he did not ask anyone’s name and religion.

In yet another distressing visual from the attack site, a woman knelt beside a man with grave injuries, urgently calling out for help: “Sir, please, please, please ask for help,” her voice breaking under the weight of desperation.
Pak based terror outfit behind Pahalgam attack
The attack, which took place in the remote and picturesque Baisaran meadow—accessible only by foot or pony—has been claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy outfit of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Former J&K CM condemns the attack
Condemnations poured in from across the political spectrum. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said in a post on X, “I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on tourists in Pahalgam, which tragically killed one and injured several. Such violence is unacceptable and must be denounced.”

As the valley reels from this act of violence, questions are being raised about security arrangements in tourist zones, and the targeted nature of the attack has further heightened tensions in the region.
