The Karnataka High Court on Friday granted bail to Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa in connection with the murder case of Renukaswamy. Alongside Darshan, his friend Pavithra Gowda and seven others, who were still in custody, were also granted bail.
Darshan was arrested on June 11, 2024, for allegedly murdering Renukaswamy, a fan, on June 8. According to reports, the murder was linked to obscene messages Renukaswamy had sent to Pavithra Gowda. The victim’s body was discovered on June 9 near a drain in Sumanahalli, Bengaluru, bearing multiple injuries. Investigations revealed that Renukaswamy was abducted from Chitradurga and allegedly tortured before his death.
Arrest and Incarceration
Following the discovery of Renukaswamy’s body, four individuals surrendered to the police, claiming responsibility for the murder, citing a financial dispute. However, inconsistencies in their statements led investigators to suspect a larger conspiracy involving Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others.
