In a significant development this morning, Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials arrived at the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Amanatullah Khan as part of an ongoing investigation into a money laundering case. The inquiry is focused on alleged irregularities concerning appointments within the Delhi Waqf Board and the leasing of its properties.

Khan responded with a video statement posted on X, asserting that the ED’s visit is a pretext for his imminent arrest. “The ED team has arrived with intentions to arrest me under the guise of conducting a search. My mother-in-law, who underwent surgery four days ago for cancer, is currently at home. I had informed the ED about her condition,” Khan said.

He accused the ED of harassment, claiming, “For the past two years, they have been relentlessly pursuing false cases against me and creating obstacles. Their aim is to disrupt our party. I urge the people of Okhla to support me with their prayers and assure them that we will continue our work undeterred.”

Visuals from the scene depict Khan speaking through a mesh door to what appears to be an ED official, while an elderly woman, presumably his mother-in-law, is seen on a bed. Khan requests a four-week extension due to his mother-in-law’s medical condition. The official responds by questioning why Khan believes the visit is for arrest, to which Khan counters, “Why else would you be here?” Khan’s wife also expresses frustration, questioning the need to thoroughly search their modest home.

Top AAP leaders have criticized the central BJP government, alleging that the ED’s actions are politically motivated. Manish Sisodia, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, and Sanjay Singh, an AAP MP who has also faced arrest in a money laundering case, have accused the ED of attempting to silence critics of the BJP. Sisodia remarked, “The ED seems focused on suppressing dissent against the BJP and incarcerating those who oppose them.”

Singh highlighted that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had previously stated that no financial crimes were involved in this case and pointed out that earlier searches at Khan’s residence had yielded no evidence.

In response, BJP leader and Delhi Assembly Opposition Leader criticized Amanatullah Khan, labeling him as corrupt and questioning the integrity of AAP’s political approach. “The actions of Khan and AAP reflect poorly on Arvind Kejriwal’s political integrity,” he stated.
