The Northern Limit of Monsoon has charted its course through various coordinates, setting the stage for what IMD meteorologists anticipate as a significant rainfall surge across multiple regions in India.
As conditions align for the further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon, attention was drawn to the imminent rainfall over the South Bay of Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andaman Sea and the east-central Bay of Bengal in the coming two days.
The formation of a Low Pressure Area off the coast of Kerala, influenced by a cyclonic circulation, has heightened expectations of precipitation.
Over the next five days, widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected over Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema Telangana, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
Isolated heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is forecasted for various regions during specific dates, underscoring the potential intensity of the approaching weather system.

Meanwhile, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands brace for a week-long spell of widespread rainfall, with intermittent heavy downpours expected from the 23rd to the 25th of May.
In Maharashtra and surrounding areas, including Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, and Vidarbha, isolated rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is anticipated from the 23rd to the 25th of May.
The presence of a cyclonic circulation over west Bihar, coupled with a trough extending from southeast Rajasthan to Jharkhand, indicates the likelihood of scattered to widespread rainfall over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand in the next week.
Similar conditions are expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, with isolated heavy rainfall anticipated on specific dates towards the end of May.
With the monsoon’s steady progression and the convergence of various meteorological factors, authorities advise residents in affected regions to stay informed and take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential risks associated with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
