Parts of Delhi-NCR were drenched by heavy rain for the second consecutive day, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting more showers throughout the day. The rain brought much-needed relief from the intense heat but also led to significant waterlogging across various parts of the capital.
Visuals shared by netizens on X (formerly Twitter) showed flooded roads and severe traffic congestion in several areas of Delhi. Among the affected sites, Minto Road saw a car submerged in water, highlighting the extent of the waterlogging. Many residents took to social media to share their own experiences and images of the flooding.

The Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi’s main weather station, recorded 154 mm of rainfall between yesterday and this morning, the IMD reported. This rainfall has contributed to a noticeable drop in temperatures, bringing them down to 35.4 degrees Celsius on Thursday. June had been particularly harsh for Delhi, with nine heatwave days recorded this month alone, compared to none in the past two years.
Meanwhile, amid the heavy rain, a roof collapse incident at the Terminal one (T1) of the Delhi airport led to the death of one and injuries to six others.
