The auspicious Maha Kumbh Mela has begun in Prayagraj, drawing an estimated 45 crore devotees from India and around the globe. Among the millions participating in this sacred gathering is Chai Wale Baba, a tea seller turned monk, who has been providing free coaching to civil services aspirants for over 40 years. Joining him is Rabri Baba. Find out why the two seers have become internet sensations.

Chai Wale Baba: A Silent Mentor

Originally named Dinesh Swaroop Brahmachari, Chai Wale Baba has taken a vow of silence and abstains from food, surviving solely on cups of tea. During the Maha Kumbh period, he communicates with aspirants through gestures and WhatsApp messages, using his silence as a form of energy empowerment. Baba believes this energy fuels his mission to empower the nation.

Baba’s dedication to educating civil services aspirants is unparalleled. He provides free coaching and study materials, answering queries via WhatsApp. His ultimate goal is to help aspirants achieve their dreams of becoming future civil servants.

Speaking to a news agency, a disciple shared, “I have been associated with Maharaj Ji for almost four to five years now. We are his disciples. From time to time, he guides us whenever we need his assistance.”

Rabri Baba: The Sweet Seva

Another figure gaining attention at the Maha Kumbh is Rabri Baba, known for his selfless service. Originally named Shri Mahant Devgiri from Shri Panchayati Akhada Mahanirvani, he prepares creamy rabri in a large kadhai from 8 a.m. to late night daily, offering it to devotees as prasad. His dedication to serving the community has made him a beloved figure at the festival.

The Significance of Maha Kumbh Mela

The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, is one of the largest and most sacred Hindu gatherings globally. Its origins trace back to the Samudra Manthan (Churning of the Ocean) legend in Hindu mythology. The festival’s timing aligns with specific astrological positions of Jupiter and the Sun, marking a period of spiritual awakening, self-reflection, and enlightenment.

Extensive preparations ensure the smooth conduct of this massive event. The Indian government and local authorities have implemented a Rs 400 crore network for round-the-clock power supply, underwater surveillance systems, and comprehensive logistics to manage the influx of devotees.

The Maha Kumbh Mela continues to inspire faith, devotion, and selfless service, epitomized by figures like Chai Wale Baba and Rabri Baba, who embody the spirit of giving and spiritual growth.
