Paul Rosolie, an American conservationist, author, and filmmaker, is renowned for his work in wildlife protection and environmental conservation, particularly in the Amazon jungle.
His dedication to preserving the world’s most biodiverse and threatened ecosystems has gained significant attention. However, Rosolie’s name became particularly well-known due to a dangerous stunt he performed in 2014: he agreed to be eaten alive by an anaconda.

The stunt was intended to raise awareness about the power and importance of anacondas and their habitats. However, the experience quickly turned perilous. As the anaconda began to consume his head, Rosolie called for the stunt to end.
He described the intense moment to the New York Post, saying, “The last thing I remember was her mouth open wide and everything went black. I went limp and let it constrict.”
He detailed how the anaconda wrapped around him, causing his suit to crack and his arms to feel as if they were being ripped from their sockets. He was on the verge of having his rib cage collapse.
Paul Rosolie emphasised that his primary goal was to demonstrate the strength of these snakes and the importance of their conservation. He explained the terrifying mechanics of constriction, noting, “Every time you exhale, you never get that space back, you never take that breath in again. So you exhale and the snake squeezes, and then when you try to breathe in, there’s nothing. And so I couldn’t even call for help. It was terrifying.”
Anacondas, which are large boas found in tropical South America, kill their prey by constricting them. The green anaconda, in particular, is noted as the largest snake in the world when considering both weight and length. According to National Geographic, green anacondas can grow up to nine meters long and weigh as much as 227 kilograms.
Rosolie’s stunt, despite its dangerous nature, was aimed at highlighting the urgent need to protect the habitats of these powerful creatures and bring attention to the environmental issues they face.
